Open Table Mission
The mission of Open Table Inc. is to transform poverty and homelessness into wholeness and stability, one life at a time. We equip and mentor faith-based communities to develop and implement stability and self-sufficiency plans for our impoverished brothers and sisters who want to take an active role in creating their future.
Through innovative collaboration between faith communities and government, case management organizations and other nonprofits, Open Table is able to unite and leverage resources that enable the cycle of poverty to be broken. Open table provides the means to shift the response from poverty maintenance resources to solutions that truly end poverty in the lives of those served. Covenant Groups
Covenant Group is an organized way to actually spend some time with people you'd want to hang out with anyway. We'll have a topic that all of the CG's will be exploring, but With a CG, we add a purposeful dimension in that we'd share certain covenants:
One would be that we would support each other... Another would be that we agree to get together regularly... Another would be that our conversations within the group would be confidential... Another would be that we would pray for each other... For more information about Covenant Groups, please contact Kristen Barner. SisterYaa2@yahoo.com or 602-840-3130. Parenting Group
For over 10 years, Shepherd members have been gathering and sharing their experiences in child rearing. The group meets for an extended Shepherd family meal after which the children go off to childcare.
For many, the hour of adult discussion that follows is a welcome break during the week. Many challenges have been resolved through conversation, humor, and tears. The meetings follow many formats including book study, couple led discussions, topical visitors and group led discussions. Mens Breakfast Club
The men of Shepherd of the Hills celebrate a morning breakfast fellowship at 7 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Quilted Bear restaurant, S.W. corner of Lincoln and Scottsdale Road.
--We hope that through Christian fellowship we will better know and enjoy our fellow members and further the interests of Shepherd of the Hills. --Our preparation of the Easter morning pancake breakfast has become a tradition, but we are interested in and donate to many of the church activities. --Spontaneous discussions may be of a religious, social, biblical or moral nature. All men are invited. Cost of the meal and tip is $9.00. --We have no set rules, but we believe that as a Christian you should: (1)live simply, (2)love generously, (3)care deeply, (4)speak kindly, and (5)leave the rest to God.
